In short, it is the name you select for your company’s website plus an extension such as .com, .net, .org, or .rw. For example, the domain name for this website is amitabhatechnology.com. All domain names must be registered.
The first step is to register your domain with an Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) accredited registrar. You can do this yourself, but most of our clients request that we do this on their behalf. The registrar checks to make sure the domain is available. If nobody else has claimed it, the registrar creates a WHOIS record with basic information about your organization or business. The registrar then submits this data to domain registries. Registry operators receive and process the registration request submitted by the registrar. They are also responsible for keeping and maintaining an authoritative master database (i.e. registry) of all top level domains and their registration data, which will become available to the public. They provide name servers with your zone file data, which includes information about the location (i.e. IP address) of your domain.
Amitabha Technology is an official registrar in Rwanda. We are an accredited seller of .rw domains and related generic second level domain names (a.k.a. gccTLDs) including: .ac.rw, .co.rw, .coop.rw, .net.rw, and .org.rw.
